Reaction Time Test
Measure how quickly you react, in milliseconds. Wait for the signal, respond as fast as you can, and see how your reflexes compare to the average human reaction time.
- Result in milliseconds, averaged over several trials
- Average human visual reaction time is around 250 ms
- Trains processing speed and alertness
What it measures
Reaction time is the gap between a stimulus appearing and your response. It reflects the speed of your visual processing and motor response — a core component of processing speed that underlies driving, sport and fast decision-making.
How it works
The screen changes state at an unpredictable moment; you tap or click the instant you notice. The test averages several trials to smooth out luck, and penalises jumping the gun so you can't cheat by pre-tapping.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good reaction time?
The average visual reaction time is about 200–250 ms. Under ~200 ms is fast; consistently under 180 ms is excellent.
How can I improve my reaction time?
Regular practice, good sleep, and staying alert help. Warming up with a few trials before measuring also gives a truer best.
